In order to spread some holiday joy, our middle school students of the CONNECT class created 52 "Boxes of Love" for the children of the Hormuz Cancer Hospice here in Alexandria. Before this hospice was created, impoverished families that were coming into Alexandria from outlying villages for their childrens' chemotherapy were sleeping on the pavement. Now, they are provided with a safe and clean place to stay, so their kids can relax after a long and painful day of chemotherapy. The families are also provided with 3 hot meals a day, which is essential to helping these kids recover from these difficult treatments. Our boxes were very well-received! Each box was especially-designed for the age and gender of each specific child. Some of our CONNECT students then went to visit the hospice to distribute the boxes and share in the smiles.
